Now the Lady Vikings can put their full attention on trying to end their state tournament basketball drought.
Junior Aliyah Pana scored 14 points and freshman Alexis Pana added 11 as Hilo used its harassing press for 64-46 victory against Kamehameha at Koaia Gym in Keaau, wrapping up an undefeated Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular season.
With a Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I berth on the line, the East No. 1 Vikings (10-0) draw winless Kealakehe (0-8) at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinals at the Waveriders’ gym.
Kamehameha’s got lofty aspiration as well next weekend at Kealakehe, but Hilo definitely gave the Warriors (7-3) something to think about.
Junior Casey Poe scored a game-high 23 points, but Kamehameha coach Garrett Arima said his team was unable to handle Vikings’ “smothering defense.”
“It was turnovers,” Arima said. “Not one of our better games.”
Better this weekend then next, when the Warriors will bid for their sixth straight BIIF Division II championship. Kamehameha, the top seed in the East, will face either Hawaii Prep or Ka’u in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Friday.
“Now we know what we need to work on,” Arima said. “They exposed our press break.”

Waiakea 58, Pahoa 30: Junior Shaila Apele scored 12 points and sophomore Nicole Antonio added 11 as the visiting Warriors coasted to their fourth straight victory to finish the regular season at 7-3.
As the East No. 2 seed, Waiakea will face West No. 1 Konawaena (8-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the BIIF Division I semifinals.
Ranchell Berinobis and Erleen Oguma each scored seven points for the Daggers (2-8), who will host Kohala (2-6) on Wednesday in the first round of the Division II playoffs.
In JV, Mikaela Martinez led Waiakea to a 53-32 victory with 13 points.

Honokaa 50, Hawaii Prep 20: Senior Keana Kaohimaunu scored 15 points in Waimea and the Dragons clinched a postseason bye.
Junior Shemika Frazier added 11 points for Honokaa (6-2), which will face either Pahoa or Kohala at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the BIIF Division II semifinals.
Junior Tiana Reynolds led the Ka Makani (4-4) with seven points. HPA will host Ka’u (1-9) on Wednesday in the first round of the Division II tournament.

Konawaena 70, Kealakehe 6: The Wildcats capped their fifth straight undefeated BIIF regular season with an easy road win.
Chanelle Molina scored 16 to lead the Wildcats (8-0), who have won 56 consecutive league games. Mercedes Victor had 12. Melissa Simon and Courtney Kaupu each scored 10.
Kehau Lee led Kealakehe (0-8) with three points.

Keaau 46, Ka’u 34: Maedina Ongais-Kilaulani scored 16 points and Taylor Pocock had 15 as the homestanding Cougars finished their season 3-7.
Junior Toni Beck (13 points) and sophomore Shyann Flores-Carvalho (10) led the way for the Trojans (1-9).
Aina Padasdao scored 16 points in Keaau’s 36-28 JV victory. Kerrilyn Domondon posted 16 for Ka’u

Kohala 86, Laupahoehoe 44: Sophomores Mikala Jordan and Hana Caravalho powered the Cowboys (5-3) in Kapaau with 26 points and 25, respectively.
Freshman Kysen Datuin led the Seasiders (0-9) with 14 points and senior Justin Jose had nine.
In a girls JV game, Kohala beat Laupahoehoe 34-29 behind 17 points by Briana Harrison.
